(This is not a BCCF-sanctioned tournament; we won't be declaring a provincial champion title)

Date: Sunday, March 2nd from 10:00am to 5:00pm

Location: BCIT Burnaby Campus | Tournament Room NE1 - 239

Entry Fee: $30 Regular | $25 Early Bird (Ends Month 0th)

$5 discount club referral code (for Regular or Early Bird)

Time Control: 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment

Sections: Open, U1100

Playing Up: $5 within 200 points

Timetable:

Please aim to arrive 10 minutes prior to round one

Round 1: 10:00 am

Round 2: 11:00 am

Round 3: 12:00 pm

Lunch: 1:00 pm

Round 4: 2:00 pm  

Round 5: 3:00 pm 

Round 6: 4:00 pm 

Award Ceremony: 5:00 pm

U1100:

  • 1st - Trophy and $75

  • 2nd - Trophy and $50

  • 3rd - Trophy

  • Top unrated - Trophy

Open:

  • 1st - Trophy and $100

  • 2nd - Trophy and $75

  • 3rd - Trophy and $50

  • Top unrated - Trophy

Top boy and girl of each grade category:

(Open section takes priority)

  • K-3 - Trophy

  • 4-6 - Trophy

  • 7-9 - Trophy

  • 10-12 - Trophy

Refunds

  • You may request a full refund before registration closes

Registration

  • We reserve the right to move players to the appropriate section based on their CFC rating

Byes

  • You may request a maximum of two ½ point byes

  • No byes on Round 6 (requests for a bye on Round 6 will be ignored, or you will receive a 0 point bye)

Playing Area

  • No food in the playing area

  • Silence is required in the playing area while games are in progress

  • All electronics capable of making noise, communicating, or playing chess must be powered fully off while playing

Photo & Video

  • BCJCA may film certain games throughout the event. We always ask players involved for their permission

  • Photos by spectators are allowed for the first 5 minutes of each round, but please be discrete and respectful to not disturb players

Tiebreaks

  • Prize money split evenly among everyone tied

  • Tiebreak for non-cash prizes decided by:

    1. Direct encounter

    2. Number of wins

    3. Buchholz tie breaks
